Our Story

In December of 2010, while serving at Holy Trinity Church in Costa Mesa, Michael Swanson was asked by Todd Hunter to pray about planting a church out of Holy Trinity. Over the course of the next month, God began to give Michael and his wife Ansley the first inklings of a call to plant a God-centered, love-filled, Spirit-empowered, ancient-future church in north Orange County. Through continued prayer and exploration, they discerned that God was calling them to plant a church in Fullerton. As they began to discuss this with others, a team began to emerge who felt similarly led. In the fall of 2011, In the Vine was born as a home group in Fullerton, meeting at a home near CSU Fullerton. Over time, the home group grew, and God gave increasing clarity as to In the Vine’s call.

God has called us to plant a church in downtown Fullerton, so that we can be by the people. Although we want to be ambassadors for Christ wherever we are, God has called us to focus on serving the greater downtown area.

On Sunday, September 16th, 2012, In the Vine launched weekly worship services. And in September of 2013, In the Vine moved to a new worship space right in the heart of downtown Fullerton. We are so excited to see all that God has in store in the weeks and months ahead as we continue to partner with Him in his mission. We invite you to join us on this journey as we seek to see the city transformed with the love of Jesus Christ.
